The library provides a local index for obituaries appearing in Lexington County newspapers. Newspapers from Lexington, Batesburg Leesville and West Columbia are included in this index.

 

Richland County Local History & Obituary Index

Obituaries from Lexington County may also appear in Columbia newspapers. Richland Library provides an index of obituaries and death notices for Richland County-based newspapers. 

 

The Lexington County Museum collects, preserves and presents the history of Lexington County, specifically the artifacts and structures made and used in the area before 1865.

 

The South Carolina Department of Archives and History houses a comprehensive archival collection with an open research room and staff to assist you with their records.

South Carolina Department of Archives and History

The Irmo Area Oral History Project is a collection of oral interviews that includes African American perspectives on the history of Irmo, South Carolina, hosted by the Department of Oral History at the University of South Carolina Libraries. 

 

The Lutheran Church Records of Lexington County, South Carolina (1866-1982) collection consists of parish registers, with records of baptisms, marriages, burials, and communions, as well as lists of members, pastors, and church officers.
